WHOLEHEARTED HOMESTEAD

WELCOME TO OUR MODERN WHOLEHEARTED HOMESTEAD…
We humbly welcome you into our home.
Monica Lee Wellness website started out as a platform to teach yoga and share Ayurvedic living techniques for health and wellness. We live and love in Groveland MA. Our family consists of me Monica Lee, a yoga instructor, Ayurvedic health counselor, a registered nurse, mother (grandmother) and a Wholehearted Gardener. I live in this home with my family, our best friend Jake, and our flock “Our Girls”.
Our Wholehearted Homestead family extends out to include my sons and daughters who makes me proud every day and their beautiful families.
Plans to open a small yoga studio in our home were halted by Covid-19 pandemic last spring, which triggered a chain of events in our home as it had many. We were challenged to re-evaluate our goals and priorities individually, as a family, and as members of this community. It occurred to us that we were all so lucky to have each other and our health and this beautiful home with its plentiful outdoor space. We felt compelled to rearrange this homestead to be more self sufficient, more supportive of local community and more mindful of global community. We had a modest garden in our yard for a few veggies and herbs. Last fall we decided to expand our back yard gardens to nearly 2,000 sq/ft to be able to naturally and wholeheartedly grow our own food while consciously protecting precious Mother Earth’s soil (see grow techniques below). I love gardening and love supporting my family and community in this nourishing way. I decided this year to better utilize the expanded beds we would embark on a 2021 CSA project, opening up shares to our friends and neighbors. Each share represents a percentage of the grow seasons harvest and is an investment in the success of the project.

Naturally and Wholeheartedly Tended Gardens
Fresh Fruits, Vegetables, and Herbs grown here. Tended and loved wholeheartedly. Our natural grow techniques include three new no dig garden beds this year as a way to support microbial growth within the soil by limiting manipulation of the soil as in tilling or excess digging. Our pest control techniques include our free range chickens who love to help keep the insect numbers down as well as natural mulches and covering crops with cloth when needed. We start our seedlings from mostly organic GMO free seed choices from our seed distributors, Johnny’s Select Seeds and Annie Heirloom Seeds. When fertilization is needed we rely on our own homestead’s compost pile and fertilizers from Gloucester Organic Neptune fertilizer is our first choice. Our gardens are precious to us and we support healthy soil wherever we can.
Free Range Chicken Love
Our Chickens are free range and roam the grounds foraging and keeping the insects in balance naturally. Our girls, Fluffy, Phoebe, Dawn, Mary Jane, and T-Bone; love when we feed them treats from the house, their favorites are chunks of watermelon and corn on the cob. They contribute to the homestead with their beautiful fresh eggs. We love to watch them interact with each other and run towards us when we have treats.
